Let’s hear it for the good ol’ days!

I was surprised and extremely happy to learn that the Swiss Inn in Manila still existed. My dad still has an old menu from the 40’s or 50’s, with Swibak Patisserie and Acke’s Deli, who was my Grandfather. How many of our parents and grandparents ate and had dates at this place, and maybe even read from this same menu? I’m happy to share.

As you can see, we’ve retained the Beef Fondue Bourguignonne and Corned Beef. Maybe we’ll bring back the Beef Fondue Vallaisanne!


Swibak was the pastry shop of Swiss Inn before, and it was famous for the Black Forest Cake and Apple Strudel. Sadly, we aren’t able to use the Swibak name (someone bought it and tried to resurrect it before, I think), but our Apple Strudel can still be ordered (ahead of time, as it isn’t part of our menu right now).


Swiss Inn Makati’s original location was in the Coronado Lanes, and it was referred to as the “New Swiss Inn”, as opposed to the “Swiss Inn” in Paco until the 1970s, and the “Old Swiss Inn” when we reopened in the 1980s. Wow, talk about confusing!!

We try to bring back the feeling of the good ol’ days, AND its prices, in our Price Rollback. The next one is scheduled on Aug. 26, 2013.
